Loot
Where upgrades come from in Midnight Season 2, and how far each one carries.
Upgrade tracks
The track an item lands on decides how far crests can take it, so two items that drop at the same level from different content can end the season a long way apart. Tracks overlap by two ranks — the greyed levels are reachable from either side.
Above Myth 6/6 sits the Ascendant Venomstone boost, unavailable until later in the season: Ascended Hero at 328 (324 crafted) and Ascended Myth at 341 (337 crafted). Separately, the last two Mythic bosses and Kith'ix drop 344 outright. Pre-release values — confirm before planning around them.
Crests
Five currencies, one per track, each upgrading only within its own. Every rank costs 20 crests flat, so a track is five upgrades and 100 crests from the rank it drops at to 6/6.

The weekly cap is 100 per type, and that is also the most you can hold — exactly one item’s climb from 1/6 to 6/6. Past the cap the game hands out the crest one tier down rather than nothing, so an overcapped run costs you the tier, not the run. Delves are where the tooltip understates things. Tier 11 pays Myth Mistcrests on top of its listed Hero reward — around five a clear, repeatably — and finding Dundun, who hides in a delve and pays out at the end, adds more on top. Separately and outside the weekly cap: the first tier 11 clear starts a quest worth 20 Hero and 30 Myth, and first kills on the nemesis boss Azta'rec pay 30 more of each. 11 weeks into the season, that is up to 1100 of each — 11 finished pieces per track, if you never missed a week and never spent a crest on anything you later replaced.
What it costs to finish a piece
Tracks cannot be crossed. No quantity of crests moves a Hero item onto the Myth track, so where a piece drops decides where it ends the season — and from Mythic+, only the +10 vault starts on a track that reaches 334.
A week of Mythic+ at the cap finishes one Myth piece — 100 Myth Mistcrests is one item from 318 to 334, and keys past +9 earn no faster once you are capped. The three vault slots are therefore the ceiling on progress, not the key count.
Dungeons
Dropped at the end of the run, Normal through a timed +10. Nothing above +10 drops higher — past that the key level only buys vault and crest progress.
Great Vault — dungeons
Offered the following Wednesday for the keys you completed, and the table the Nebulous Voidcore bonus roll pays out of too. Always ahead of the drop at the same key level — a +10 hands you 311 on the day and 318 next week — which is the whole argument for filling all three slots.
The +10 row is the ceiling: a +15 offers the same 318.
Raid
The vault runs a full difficulty ahead of the drop — a Heroic kill hands over 305 on the night and 318 next Wednesday, which is Mythic's drop level. The Nebulous Voidcore bonus roll pays from the vault column.
Per-boss drop levels within a difficulty are not recorded — bosses later in the raid arrive further along the track and so cost fewer crests to finish.
Tidebound Grotto — lair bosssingle source
One lair boss on four difficulties, each landing at the bottom of the next track up.
Preysingle source
Three difficulties, each seeding the bottom of a different track, with a hunt twice per difficulty per week. As with raids the vault sits a difficulty ahead of the hunt itself.
PvP
Every PvP item carries two item levels: a base value in the open world, and a higher one that switches on inside arenas, battlegrounds and War Mode. Compare PvP gear by its PvP number — a PvE piece with a higher normal item level can still be the weaker choice once a match starts.
PvP item levels cannot be upgraded with crests. The crafted rows are single-sourced and have no published outside-PvP value. Tier conversion preserves the source item's secondary stats, tertiary stats and cantrips, so a Conquest piece keeps its PvP scaling when converted.

Blues + 80 Adventurer Crests
Blues + 80 Veteran Crests
A crafted piece starts from blues and climbs by spending crests at the commission, so the ceiling is set by the best crest you have rather than by the recipe.
321 is the crafted ceiling until the Ascendant Venomstone boost opens later in the season, which takes a craft to 324 and then 337. PvP crafted scaling is recorded under PvP.

Field Accolades (500/750)
The campaign, world quests and the accolade vendor — the floor everything else is measured against.
Levelling campaign and side quest gear sits at 201-214, unranked and not upgradeable, so it is not on the ladder at all.
Ritual Sitesunconfirmed
Six tiers, with challenge modifiers unlocking from tier 3 and stacking for better rewards. Gear comes from a vendor for Field Accolades rather than dropping, and tiers also award Renown.
Champion and Hero track gear, per the vendor. Still no trustworthy item levels — the one source giving numbers quotes a 269 vault, which is a Season 1 value. The 279 Field Accolade gear under World is the closest recorded figure, but that chart files it under world activities rather than ritual sites, so it is not assumed to be the same vendor.
Season 2 numbers for patch 12.1, transcribed by hand from community loot tables — Blizzard publishes no API for reward tiers, so these go stale when a patch moves them. Season 1 values run about 46 item levels lower and are not interchangeable. Still unrecorded: Ritual Sites.
